✨SURRENDER✨

My 2025 word of the year is 🥁... SURRENDER.

This word came up for me many times in the past few weeks and actually it was part of a process I have worked on the last half of 2024.

The actual Webster Dictionary meaning of surrender is: cease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to their authority. OR to give up completely or agree to forgo especially in favor of another. 🤔

So, you may be wondering why would I choose this word when it actually has a negative meaning. But, as I pondered and journaled about this word, I completely changed the meaning and what it feels like to me. As you can see by the image I created...that is what 'surrender' means to me. "letting go of the need to control outcomes and embracing the flow of life as it unfolds. It's about accepting what is, finding peace in the unknown, and trusting that everything aligns for your greater purpose-even in grief or challenges".🙏

My words for 2023 & 2024 were 'growth' and 'momentum'. I started Butterflies + Halos in June 2022 and I had no idea what I was doing starting a small online business. What I saw was it could be something, so when 2023 rolled around I knew without a doubt I wanted my word to be 'GROWTH' as I wanted my business and my own self to grow. When 2024 was coming to be I had seen the growth in my business journey and personal self. I wanted to keep that growth going so I chose the word 'MOMENTUM' and boy did that carry a ton of weight throughout the year 2024. The momentum isn't stoping at all, it's only continuing.

So as I try to lean into my prior years word, this one fits in nicely.  🤗

"Building on growth and momentum, surrender acknowledges that your efforts have planted seeds and set things in motion. Now, it’s time to release attachment to specific results, allowing room for unexpected opportunities and deeper connection to your mission. It’s a reminder that true strength often comes from letting go, not holding on".💛

I am SO pleased with my word of the year and I'd love for you to share with me YOUR word and why? Finding a word is such a wonderful movement into the new year and we don't have to focus on goals that will A) never be attainable B) the feeling of guilt for not attaining those said goals C) having the pressure of tasks that go undone D) all of the above and so much more! That's why a word is beautiful. 🤗

Cheers to a wonderful 2025 for you all and I can't wait to live out MY word!
