Scripture:
“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” — Matthew 28:6
We’ve been laying things down.
Not perfectly.
Not all at once.
But gently…honestly…week by week.
Self-protection.
The need to be understood.
Comparison.
Control.
Shame.
Even the fear of joy.
Some of it we released with open hands.
Some of it we loosened slowly, finger by finger.
Some of it we’re still holding, just a little more softly now.
And here we are.
Easter.
Resurrection Doesn’t Begin With Perfection
It begins with presence.
With showing up at the tomb not knowing what you’ll find.
With carrying grief and hope in the same breath.
With hearts that are still tender, still healing, still wondering.
The women didn’t arrive at the tomb expecting celebration.
They came carrying sorrow.
They came expecting loss to still be loss.
And yet…
Resurrection was already unfolding.
Not because everything was understood.
Not because everything felt resolved.
But because something new was happening, even in the middle of what had been broken.
We Don’t Rise Empty. We Rise Lighter.
This is what I want you to hear today:
You don’t arrive at Easter as a completely different person.
You arrive carrying your story.
Your grief.
Your love.
Your memories.
But maybe…just maybe…you’re carrying it differently.
A little less guarded.
A little less pressured to explain.
A little less concerned with keeping up.
A little less tightly wound around control.
A little more gentle with yourself.
A little more open to joy.
That’s resurrection work.
Not erasing what was.
But transforming how it lives within you.
What We’re Rising Into
We are not rising into perfection.
We are rising into:
- Softer hearts that no longer need full armor
- Freedom from needing everyone to understand
- Peace with our own pace
- Trust in what we cannot control
- Compassion for the way we’ve carried our grief
- Permission to feel joy again
This is not a finish line.
It’s a beginning.
A quieter, steadier way of living inside your story.
Resurrection Is Still Happening
It happens in small ways.
In the moment you say how you really feel.
In the breath you take instead of bracing.
In the grace you offer yourself without hesitation.
In the laugh that comes without apology.
In the peace that shows up unexpectedly.
Resurrection is not just something that happened once.
It’s something that continues.
Right here.
Right now.
In you.
A Gentle Invitation for Today
Today is not about rushing into joy or forcing meaning.
It’s about noticing what feels different.
What feels lighter.
What feels softer.
What feels like it might be beginning again.
And if nothing feels different yet?
That’s okay too.
Resurrection doesn’t always arrive loudly.
Sometimes it begins as the smallest shift—
a willingness to believe that light will come.
Journal Prompts for Easter
- What have I been gently laying down this season?
- Where do I notice even the smallest sense of light or softness?
- What might I be rising into, even if I can’t fully see it yet?
You are not behind.
You are not doing this wrong.
You are not the same person who walked into this season.
Something has shifted.
Something is softening.
Something is rising.
He is risen.
And somehow, in ways both seen and unseen…
so are you. 🌿
